Owner
Located on seventeen acres of rolling hills, Waters Edge Winery & Bistro features wines from around the world, but hand crafted on-site. Also included on these seventeen acres is The Wine Barn, which is available to rent out for private events. This 3,000 square foot event space features a bride’s lounge, excellent bathroom facilities, wi-fi, and a built-in sound system.
Mike Hayes is a Jacksonville local and enjoys investing in the growth of his community. After graduating from Illinois College, he worked as a CPA for the State of Illinois Department of Securities, spent time in a private accounting firm, and then started a gelato ice cream manufacturing company with his wife Laurie. He then extended his line of businesses to the communications field, but resigned as President of Davel Communications to pursue other opportunities. He is now a real estate tycoon and an avid winery owner and winemaker!
Our Wines
Our menu consists of wines personally selected by Mike. He can choose grape must (crushed grapes and juice) from a wide selection of popular wine varietals and blends from high quality grape growing regions around the world, all according to the likes and dislikes of his guests and of course himself! Our wine list consists of sparkling wines, whites, and reds all in a range of dryness to sweetness as well as a variety of refreshing, off-dry fruit sangrias. We also offer a selection of domestic and craft beers and a limited cocktail menu.
